ADULT JIU-JITSU CLASSES
The sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu means different things to different people. We consider it as a “Human Chess game” where we use our bodies as an extension of our minds at a game of physical and mental wit. To do well in this sport, you need discipline, passion, and lots of patience. The average time it takes to earn a black belt is about 10 years, so don’t feel like a slow poke when you’re doing this. You can get a university degree and finish graduate studies in less time than it takes to go through a full BJJ curriculum. Some get their black belt faster. Some get it slower. It all depends on how much focus you want to put into the sport.
The Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes are open for all levels ages 14 years and older. Students learn positioning, sweeps, and submissions. At the end of each class, they are given the opportunity to test specific skill or their overall skills among the other students in live sparring scenarios. Students can gain enough knowledge and training to begin competing at BJJ and grappling tournaments.
VR Jiu-Jitsu is the Jiu-Jitsu program for Auckland MMA, and is under the direct guidance of Van Robertson, a first-degree Black Belt under Pedro Fernandes of Tu Kaha Jiu-Jitsu in Auckland. VR Jiu-Jitsu aims to provide quality lessons for those seeking to progress in the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. VR Jiu Jitu is an official team affiliate of Tu Kaha Jiu-Jitsu, and VRJJ members often cross train with other Tu Kaha affiliate members to broaden their training experience.
